Automatic Packing and Palletizing Solution for Small Motor Sets with Pallet Layer

— Ideal for industrial automation of heavy components

To address the challenges of manually packing heavy motor components, we have developed a fully automated case packing and palletizing solution specifically designed for small motors packed in sets with a plastic pallet layer.

Customer Requirements:

  • Each motor weighs over 500g.
  • One set contains 10 motors (approx. 5kg/set), and 3 sets are packed per box (approx. 15kg/box).
  • A plastic pallet is placed on top of the 3 sets.
  • Manual packing is physically demanding due to weight—an automated solution is necessary.

Proposed Solution:

Our system includes the following integrated modules:

  • Automatic Case Erector
  • Robotic Pick-and-Place Case Packer
  • Top Sheet (Plastic Pallet) Placement
  • Case Sealer (I-sealing & H-sealing)
  • Robotic Palletizer

Engineering Considerations:

  1. Vacuum Pick-up Stability The case packer utilizes suction cups to grip the motors. Due to the solid, non-porous surface of the motors, suction-based gripping is feasible—but careful evaluation is done to ensure a stable and reliable pick-up.
  2. Payload and Gripper Power Given the high weight (approx. 5kg per set, 15kg per box), the gripper’s payload capacity is carefully calculated. This solution supports material loads up to 10kg comfortably. For products exceeding 15kg, we recommend upgrading the gripper or using mechanical claws.
  3. Packing Speed The robotic pick-and-place unit operates at 4–8 cycles per minute, depending on motor geometry and arrangement stability.
  4. Pallet Layer Placement (Plastic Sheet) As the number of pallet sheets decreases during operation, the machine cannot rely on a fixed height. Therefore, a sensor-based detection system is implemented to locate the exact height of the sheet. The gripper arm gently descends to avoid damaging the top layer. For higher throughput, multi-level signal sensing can be implemented to accelerate the placing motion while preserving precision.

Suitable Product Types:

This solution is ideal for:

  • Heavy industrial components
  • Products packed in trays or pallets
  • Carton sizes with stable stacking requirements

Summary:

This automated case packing and palletizing line is designed to reduce labor intensity, improve operational safety, and maintain high packing consistency for heavy-duty products. The modular design ensures flexibility for layout customization, while the system’s intelligent control optimizes performance without compromising stability or product safety.
